Jeffrey Alan Parrish has worked as a registered nurse at various hospitals for over 15 years. He holds an MBA from Benedictine University, a bachelor’s of science in nursing from Illinois State University. Jeffrey Alan Parrish also holds a nursing AAS degree from Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, Illinois.
An AAS or associate of applied science in nursing is a two-year degree program that teaches the basics of nursing. Some of the courses an AAS student will take include health and illness throughout the lifespan, fundamentals in nursing, adult nursing, pharmacology, nursing management, and newborn self-care.
An AAS graduate can work as a nurse in a hospital, doctor’s office, nursing care facility, outpatient care center, retirement, and assisted living facility. A student who has done an AAS degree can become a registered nurse if they sit and pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). The exam is made up of multiple-choice questions, plus some multiple-response, fill-in-the-blank, and drag-and-drop questions.
